Makers Cornwall

In 2020 our Makers Cornwall events moved online, to reach out to our customers who love buying well made, high quality handmade gifts from independent small creative businesses.

A bit of history….

In 2016 Etsy Makers Cornwall was set up in response to a call-out by Etsy UK, who were looking for Etsy sellers to set up teams and organise an Etsy Made Local event in their local area. Alison Bick and Sarah Drew, along with Keri Valentine, Kirsty Jones, Ali Corder, Lou Tonkin, Katy Pillinger and Lizzie May Amos started up the Etsy Makers Cornwall team. From an application process, we selected makers who would fit together well, to host a well curated event that would be a magical experience for customers and sellers alike.

The first three Etsy Made Local Cornwall Christmas events were held in St Ives with 40 stallholders. Our organising team evolved, and we were delighted when Julia Crimmen and Catherine Wood joined our gang of organisers.

In 2019 our successful fair moved to Penryn Campus which enabled us to host 70 stallholders and over 5,000 visitors during the weekend. This was our biggest event, and we were blown away at the response and feedback we received. Not bad for a group of makers who started off with limited event organising experience!

Keri Valentine

Behind the success of our Etsy Made Local Cornwall in Penryn event our team felt a great sadness as our lovely friend Keri had been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in September 2019, and died a few short months later. The spirit of our events, and the friendly warm atmosphere, special effects and the twinkle of magical dust was down to Keri and her spiritual humanity. We really missed her at our last event, and miss her still.
